Nourishment
According to the ancient science of Ayurveda, Fall is the season of Vata, where the elements of air, space, and wind are most dominant within and around us. Anxiety, insomnia, and lack of focus are all symptoms of a Vata imbalance and one of the most effective ways of coming back into harmony is by nourishing ourselves. Nourishment provides sustenance or, from an Ayurvedic perspective, it povides ojas which is the life-giving essence of earth that feeds and replenishes us.
I was blessed to be able to teach in a silent retreat recently with Deepak Chopra and Brent Becvar, and one of the themes that resonated so strongly with me was the reflection we continuously came back to: “What is nourishing for me right now?” That simple shift in mindset has the power to move us from a space of hastiness into a space of alignment. Whether it’s through food, nature, relationships, or communication, we know that when we choose nourishment, we are choosing our higher self.
So if you are in a place of uncertainty ask yourself: What is nourishing for me right now? What feeds my soul? All is takes is a moment of pause to shift the way we feel. And when we shift the way we feel we shift our entire reality. Happy Autumn, my friends! May we all be nourished by loving kindness for ourselves and each other.
Namaste,
Sarah
