The Yoga of Motherhood

Of all the spiritual studies I have explored over the years, I can say that there is no greater form of awakening than motherhood. It has taught me about the law of karma, and how every choice I make has a direct effect that sends vibrations into the future. It has taught me about the power of embodiment, and that words have meaning, but actions are the alchemy that create change. It’s taught me about sacrifice and the joy that comes from giving without attachment. Motherhood has given me a new understanding of compassion, grief, and unconditional love. It’s bittersweet and it’s tender. It shapes me and therefore, shapes the world around me. To me, celebrating motherhood is a form of celebrating the divine because there is no other force that could crack me open as much as it has and as much as it does. So happy divine Mother’s Day to you, my friend! Whatever your relationship is to your mother or to your children, may we all learn to love ourselves through our imperfections, so we bring that same grace to each other.

Namaste,
Sarah
